Recently in my bid to return to reviewing and defeat laziness, I have been given a chance to try out one of Alawar Entertainment’s newest game “Elementary My Dear Majesty!”.
In this game you play as a dashing blonde mercenary Felix, who sets upon the problems with both his intellect and brute force, well the latter is only once in a while. Felix lives in a zany (maybe a little insane) fantasy world full of floating islands, space ships powered by watermelon juice and princesses in distresses, as he is tasked to help out one such princess out of a monstrous problem.
At its heart it is mainly a puzzle game, where your keen eye and wits will help you solve all the different puzzles this game throws at you, as everything seems to be broken or gone wrong (or crazy) in the fantasy world of “Elementary My Dear Majesty!” and you’re the guy to fix it all.
While the graphical part of the game could use some more work and animations, the game does have a certain charm and appeal to it. It balances fun with the challenge so well that it doesn’t become too frustrating. It does have a hint system which bails you out if you really are having troubles and the game also allows you to skip certain puzzles if they seem like too much to handle.
This is a game that casual gamers who love puzzle games shouldn’t overlook without giving it a try.
